Zoxitin
Ointment, 400 mg/g
COMPOSITION
Each gram of ointment contains: zinc oxide 400 mg.
Excipients with known effect: anhydrous lanolin 65 mg/g, methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218) 0.8 mg/g, butylhydroxyanisole (E320).
Other excipients: cod liver oil, white soft paraffin, talc, lemon oil, purified water.
WHAT IT IS USED FOR
A dermatological medicine with emollient and protective action. Indicated for: nappy rash (prevention and treatment), intertrigo, miliaria, superficial wounds, burns, dermatitis, ulcerative skin conditions.
HOW IT WORKS
Zinc oxide has local anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent and adsorbent action. It forms a protective layer on the skin surface, reduces inflammation and accelerates healing. Cod liver oil and lanolin soften the skin and promote tissue regeneration. It is practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation.
HOW TO USE
Apply externally. Clean and dry the affected area first. Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin areas 2–3 times daily. For burns and wounds, apply as a dressing with ointment. For prevention of intertrigo, apply to areas subject to prolonged contact and friction.
WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE USED
hypersensitivity to zinc oxide or to any of the excipients;
acute purulent inflammatory conditions of the skin and adjacent tissues.
Important to know
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. The ointment contains anhydrous lanolin which may cause local skin reactions (contact dermatitis), and methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218) and butylhydroxyanisole (E320) which may cause allergic reactions. Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is permitted. Read the package leaflet carefully before use.
Possible side effects
Very rare: allergic contact skin reactions — itching, erythema, skin rash. If side effects occur, stop use and consult your doctor.
STORAGE
Store below 25 °C. Keep out of the reach of children. Shelf life: 36 months.
